CONTEST: Name The Date

Here is the latest contest from your friendly BlogMeister.

I need you to guess when this photo was taken. I also want to know the reason why you chose that date.

To give you some geographical perspective, that's Detroit in the foreground and Windsor in the background.

Clearly you have to be creative in this Contest since the obvious answer is not necessarily going to be the correct answer. After all, I do have to give you a challenge don't I?

The answer will be given tomorrow

If my memory serves me correct the bridge was completed in 1928 or 1929. In the picture the Windsor Plaza is under construction so this would be in that timeframe.

"I guess 1928.....the year before the Bridge opened....it looks like it's nearly completed."

A reader writes to explain further:

"I guessed 1929 because believe it or not I read a year ago that the bridge was completed in 1929...ahead of schedule. My guess is also stems from the nice trees surrounding the bridge on the Detroit side (they ain't there now !) and no Huron Line (or very little) on the Windsor side...I noticed too that the center of the span looks complete but not either end."

"I'm going to guess 2050 (creative or what?).

With industries off shoring, Windsor is determined to shrink without any effective leadership to make Windsor the next best city in Canada. Even at 2050 they will still be discussing plans for a twinned bridge, evidently not in the picture.

The Big 3 are all gone, again not in the picture. Industries have left and agriculture has taken back its place. Detroit went bankrupt and with all those abandoned skyscrapers making Detroit look so good, they were torn down to help revitalize downtown with a cool looking urban village.

What do I win?"

This is the bridge the DRIC people want to build in Delray and in the West End of Windsor.

No date because it's not going to happen.
